New patient appointments
If you are a new patient, a valid referral is required from your GP or another medical specialist to claim a Medicare rebate. GP referrals remain valid for 12 months, while specialist referrals are valid for 3 months.To make the most of your consultation with Dr Awwad, please bring the following:

A copy of your current referral letter -
Any relevant imaging (X-rays, CT, MRI or ultrasound) and associated reports -
A list of current medications and known medical conditions -
Medicare card and private health fund details (if applicable) -
The completed New Patient Registration Form (emailed in advance, if possible) -
Details of any previous surgeries or treatment for your condition -
Loose, comfortable clothing that allows access to the affected area
What to expect during your consultation

Clinical discussion: Dr Awwad will ask about your symptoms, activity limitations, and how your condition is affecting your life. -
Review of imaging: Your scans and test results will be explained clearly in the context of your condition. -
Physical examination: Dr Awwad will assess joint movement, strength, and function. -
Diagnosis and care planning: You’ll be guided through treatment options, which may include physiotherapy, injections, surgery, or ongoing observation. -
Clear next steps: If further testing or surgery is needed, Dr Awwad’s team will assist you in coordinating the next stage of care.

Returning patient appointments
If you’re returning for review, please bring:

Any new scans or investigations since your last visit -
Updates from your physiotherapist or GP, if applicable -
A list of any changes to your symptoms or medication
Check whether your referral is still valid. Expired referrals may affect your Medicare rebate. A new GP referral is needed every 12 months, and a specialist referral every 3 months.
Telehealth and Interstate Consultations
Dr Awwad offers telehealth appointments for patients living in regional areas, interstate, or overseas. These consultations are conducted via secure video platform and allow you to discuss your care from the convenience of home.

Cancellations and rescheduling
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please contact our rooms as early as possible. We kindly request at least 24 hours’ notice so the time can be offered to another patient.
